First pday; 10 days in Mexico MTC

One last request... that I decided to put FIRST - go write her a letter!!!

Sofia would LOVE to hear from you. She can only read emails on pdays, but if you use this service, you can send an email that they will then print and deliver. She can read the printed letters any day. It is free to use, unless you want to upload pictures or handwritten letters, then it costs a couple of dollars.

Sofia is in District 3A, and her mission is Washington Everett.

Momma!!!

I love you so much!! This has been a really tough week, but I definitely have had God helping me out. Travelling was insane because I feel like I didn't really understand that I was leaving the fam for EIGHTEEN WHOLE MONTHS. Jaja.

I got to the MTC and they just herded us like sheep getting us everything we need and sending us off to unpack. At first, my companion was Hermana Billings, but day two someone from reception came into our district room and took Hermana Thompson, Hermana Nilsson's Companion, away, so we were a trio for like 7 hours. I say that because at dinner, Hermana Melendez, a missionary who missed her flight joined us and we were 2 companionships for like 12 hours. THEN we were left officially a trio when Hna Melendez left, so we had to pack everything up and move from the third floor to the first floor to be in an apartment for a trio. On top of that, we had a door lock that wasn't opening, a carbon monoxide detector that was freaking out in the middle of the night and no water jug in our apartment. Todo, we have been to reception 9 times between everything. lol. We're pretty sure the CO detector was just running low on batteries because there's no gas inside the apartment, but when the dude came to check it on Wednesday, he just ripped it out of the wall and walked away. It was back in our apartment last night, jaja. So it's been a pretty crazy week.

ps: My companions are LIT. I totally won the lottery on that one, so there are things that are going right. lol. (:

Around that time I stopped digesting todo and after 3 or so days was feeling really sick. My teacher noticed and sent me to the infermeria where the doctor told me I had a parasite or a stomach bug. He gave me a super nasty drink and cephalexin and told me I could only eat fruits and veggies for three days. Well let me tell ya. I wasn't eating ANYTHING for a couple days. I have never been so recked in my life. jaja. Around then I started getting blisters, like 2 days ago, and just didn't know if I could take all those drugs with no food, but I started eating again today and hopefully will be able to start the prednisone today. DESPITE all of that, I'm doing alright. I'm learning A LOT about myself and as much as I possibly can about Spanish. I'm happy to be here, and no matter what Satan does to try to get me to want to go home, I'm not going to budge. One of the Elders gave me a blessing of health the day before I woke up with RAS and in it, he said that Heavenly Father wanted me to know that I was doing his will and that he wants me to continue in the work. I just thought to myself, "I've dealt with so much worse, why would I want to go home because of a parasite." And then I woke up with RAS, so God really does know our needs and I really needed that blessing.

I see Macy every day at mealtimes and gym time and we hang out siempre. Love that kid. It was really hard to go from saying "mace" to saying "Hermana Conrad." I'll send pics of us together tonight!! Also, to Erika, I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN MY JUMPERS. THANK YOU SO MUCH. It's great that I'm going to Washington because it's the rainy season in Mexico rn and without fail, every day at 6 o'clock it STORMS. So I am really glad that I have my rain gear and sweaters because believe it or not it's chilly and WET. Jaja. Hermana Nilsson didn't bring any of her rain gear to Mexico, so I've been letting her use my umbrella and I've been using my rain jacket - thanks Cameon!!!!

So far, the MTC has really kind of just been a "try to survive" type of thing, but there have been some amazing moments that helped me to feel the spirit SO STRONG. A blessing that one of my companions received was awesome, I was able to testify a couple times in role plays that made me feel the spirit super strong, and I feel like in general, He has just been with me helping me, siempre. I have never prayed SO much in my entire life. I appreciate all your guys' prayers and I want you guys to know that I miss you guys so much and I am always praying for you!!! Just so you know, I am not allowed to read emails on days that aren't P Day, but I think there's a free service that you can send an email to where the MTC prints it out and puts it in my mailbox so I can read it. FAM please hit me up. I need it. Jaja. I can only take pics on P Day and Sunday night, so I'll upload all my pics tonight.

I'm so sad to hear about bishop!!!! I'll be praying for him! Tell him I am SO Sorry!!!

Love you guys SO much!!!
Hermana Jimenez

ps: My hair is a little frizzy but we Gucci

It was so fun to get to skype with Sofia today. It's going to be like Christmas every Thursday for the next 5 weeks! Poor Jose just had to call in and listen over the phone. But we'll get it figured out so he can see her too.

There are 11 missionaries in Sofia's district; 3 sisters and 8 elders. The elders are mostly going to Cancun and another Mexican mission that Sofia couldn't remember. She told us that her branch has 4 districts and she thinks it's the only one with native speakers in it. Her branch president is Mexican and does not speak English. She already had to give a "talk" in Sacrament Meeting in Spanish!!! She said they told everyone to be prepared for a 5-minute talk, and then after the Sacrament, they just call on missionaries to come and give their talks. She was the first talk on her first Sunday in Mexico!

This is Sofia's favorite picture in the MTC...
what a surprise, it has an adorable little lamb!

I got here!!

So that was a really, really, REALLY long day of traveling. I love the kids that I´m with and I made it safe. I don´t have much time, but I love you guys so much and I´m not freaking out yet. Haha.

I´m in District A, Branch 3, and my companion is Hermana Billings. My Pday is Thursday, so I´ll talk to you guys soon!!! as in soon I mean NEXT Thursday.

Love you guys.

Sofia's flight was at 7:30am this morning. So we left the house at 5am. She got to Mexico City about 12 hours later. She was set apart as a missionary last night by President Patterick. Her blessing was wonderful. According to Sof, he blessed her will all "the things she needed." This morning she was calm and happy, and excited to be on her way.
